Growing up as a child of an Air Force officer, Dr. Sheppard had the opportunity to live and travel to various countries. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Northern Colorado. With a strong interest in the field of dentistry, Dr. Sheppard went to Baylor College of Dentistry where he obtained his DDS degree. Dr. Sheppard then completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training at Martin Luther King/Charles R. Drew Medical Center in affiliation with Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. At these facilities, Dr. Sheppard had extensive training in the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery including: Office-based anesthesia, Corrective & Reconstructive Jaw Surgery, Dental Implantology, Trauma Surgery and Non-surgical/surgical management of Tempromandibular Joint Disorders.
Dr. Sheppard is Board Certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He also holds membership in the following organizations:
Although Dr. Sheppard is trained in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, his particular area of interest is in dental implantology. He enjoys Hard and Soft Tissue Oral Reconstructive Surgery to facilitate dental implant placement. He stays abreast of all the latest procedures and options for his patients. He also finds time to lecture to peers, dental and medical students.

Since 2007, Dr Sheppard has been recognized by fellow peers as “Top Doc” and “Top Dentist” in Fort Worth Magazine and Texas Monthly Magazine.
Dr Sheppard was instrumental in starting the “Mansfield Study Club” in 2005. He continues to serve as President of the organization.
Dr. Sheppard feels his greatest accomplishment is his marriage to his college sweetheart, Nicole, and their three children: twin daughters Anyae & Aniya and his son Michael Jr.
